Martin Bennison is a young performance artist who creates temporary spaces of visual endurance, whether it may be for the spectator and/or himself. Martin uses his body as a material which he pushes to its limits to create a type of endurance styled piece, which produces thought-provoking ideas of the 'everyday body'; while confronting topics such as masculinity, mental/physical health, sexuality and identity. Martin believes that the idea of endurance can be used effectively to create performance styled pieces because it opens the mind up to new experiences that we are not accustomed to, "enduring a performance can help you understand your limits and thresholds while realising your inner-self and motivations." He has a keen interest in allowing the performer/audience hierarchy as it helps separate individuals and let there be a solid agreed focus point allowing the piece to become subjective.
Martin is a student who is currently associated and producing work at Queen Mary University of London.
